Wendell Scott: NASCAR remembers a legend in Las Vegas
Long before NASCAR's Drive for Diversity there was one man who just drove as hard as he could whenever he could. Wendell Scott was the first African American driver in what is now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
This Friday, March 4th, is the 50th anniversary of this NASCAR pioneer's first race and to commemorate the occasion NASCAR will honor its first African American driver by having every car competing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend carry a commemorative decal emblazoned with the image of Wendell Scott.
