The Incredible Hulk
The Incredible Hulk
I was kind of a fan of the first Hulk, the Ang Lee directed one that tried to move away from the blockbuster comic book mold and craft a new kind of hero movie. I respect it in a way I could never respect a blockbuster like ‘The Incredible Hulk’. But I am a child of pop culture and I loved the later Hulk a lot more than Ang Lee’s. Shit poster notwithstanding..
It was just like the Xbox game I know and love, he picked up cars and smashed them into people, he said things like ‘You don’t want to make me angry…’ and of course, ‘Hulk Smash!’ and he fell from a Black Hawk and transformed into the Hulk on the ground. And people actually died! He killed people! And there was blood! I mean, it’s almost unheard of in these kind of movies, but there it was, a more realistic approach to the heavy handed Spidey franchise at least.
And the end. The glorious end. Bruce Banner in his hideaway gaining control of his powers, and Tony Stark (the amazing Robert Downey Jr) advising the almost washed up General that he’s thinking of forming a ‘team’ (Avengers - *brain explosion of nerdic ecstasy*)
