Hilton Head Island competes for Google Fiber
Its funny where I come across news and stories for my columns. I meet great musicians everywhere I go, so that takes care of the country music column on examiner. When I travel, I am not necessarily looking for stories. They just seem to find me.
Case and Point: while traveling to Hilton Head Island recently, I got all over facebook and found that Google is pushing a new high speed internet service. The trial run will pick several cities from around the country. They must have between 50,000 and 500,000 residents.
The small island of Hilton Head was in the running competing against larger cities from all over the country. The we found out Chef Robert Irvine, host of Dinner Impossible on the Food Network was also supporting the cause.
