Formula One racing for beginners
I write NASCAR, but Yahoo! Sports asked me to write a series of pieces on Formula One. I am a fan of every type of racing so I took them up on it. This is the first article in a series on Formula One. I hope to write many more throughout the whole season. Tale a look and tell me what ya think. The first five topics were picked for me, but I promise some in depth article on the teams, the drivers and the complete F1 season.

The most technologically advanced race cars on the planet are set to open their 2011 season in Australia on March 27. The history of Formula One racing actually goes back to the early part of the twentieth century. Under the banner of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), F1 tried many different variations on its cars weight balance and engine packages before the FIA Formula One World Championship was formed in 1950.
These open wheel monsters now produce up to 1000 horsepower winding their multi-million dollar engines out to over 19,000 rpm and hitting speeds of up to 221 miles per hour on street and road courses in some of the most scenic cities around the world and on every continent.
