Kenny Wallace Signs For 2011

Kenny Wallace has combined a successful career as a professional race car driver with an equally successful career as a commentator and sports personality. Other drivers, and fans alike, look forward to pre-race comments and analysis from the “Hermanator’ every week.

That career in broadcasting has done nothing to curb Wallace’s desire to be successful behind the wheel and continue racing. This week he took another step towards continuing his success in the NASCAR Nationwide Series when he signed to drive with RAB Racing with Brack Maggard. The team was formed in 2005 and has competed in USAR Pro Cup, ARCA, ASA NASCAR Camping World Trucks and the NASCAR Nationwide Series with drivers Jon Wes Townley and Justin Marks among others

Scott Speed - NASCAR's Six Million Dollar Man?

It's just been a few weeks since Scott Speed was unceremoniously released from his contract with Red Bull Racing. On the heels of the email that has apparently changed the direction of the young man's racing career, Speed, through his attorney's, has filed a lawsuit in North Carolina Superior Court asking for $6.5 million in compensation he says is due him through the contract extension he recently signed during the 2010 season.

Speed who is one of the drivers who are more adept at social media marketing had already tweeted to his followers, "today should be the day my lawyer files this lawsuit against Red Bull...Had to tell my loyal twitter followers before they saw it online..", most likely in order to garner public

Bobby Labonte Has New Life In 2011

With all the young guys coming into top level NASCAR racing it's easy to forget about some of the guys who fall by the wayside due to car owners that didn't make long term business plans for their race teams. Bobby Labonte was the 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion and along with Tony Stewart raised Joe Gibbs Racing to one of the premier teams in NASCAR. Under the Coach's guidance and complete long term business plan Labonte just had to drive.

After leaving Joe Gibb's Racing and putting in some good years with Richard Petty's #43 Bobby Labonte made the daring move to Hall Of Fame Racing. On the surface it wasn't a bad move. Labonte had success with football related NASCAR teams. Owner Jeff Moorad came with a sports pedigree, owning part of the Arizona Diamondbacks and brokering a deal to gain control of the San Diego Padres in 2009. Along with Troy Aikman and Roger Starbach, they had significant name power to assure quality sponsorship

The 1992 NASCAR Championship If They Used The Chase! What If???

Let's forget about Jimmie Johnson and his five NASCAR Sprint Cup Championships for just a few minutes. Since the NASCAR point system changed back in 2004, there has been argument and debate on whether the new system is fair. Does it award and recognize season long accomplishments including wins or is it just a 10 race charge to see who can be the best at the end of a long season?

Looking back to one of the most spectacular season finishes, stats taken from the NASCAR website were used and juggled to determine what the outcome would have been back in 1992 if NASCAR had used the Chase for the Championship instead of the classic modern era points system

Penske Racing Still Searching for Sponsorship

Penske Racing just came off their first NASCAR championship when Brad Kesolowski won the Nationwide Series title this year. The team has sealed up their sponsorships for the Sprint Cup programs of Kurt Busch in the revived #22 Shell Penzoil Dodge and Kesolowski who will take over the driving duties in the Miller Lite "Blue Duece".

The odd man out at Penske appears to be former three time Indy champion and 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner Sam Hornish. Hornish finished the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season just four disappointing spots back from teammate Kesolowski at 29th in the standings. Hornish who carried the Mobil One sponsorship is left without a sponsor as Mobil One moves over to Stewart Haas Racing for 2011

Dale Earnhardt Jr is NASCAR's Most Popular Driver Again

Dale Earnhardt Jr. made head way on another record today when he was presented with Nascar's National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Most Popular Driver award presented by Hamburger Helper today at the National Motorsports Press Association's Myers Brothers ceremony.

Earnhardt Jr. is now second behind Bill Elliot. The two have the distinction as being the only two drivers to win the most popular driver in Nascar Sprint Cup competition eight years in a row. Elliot has won the award an impressive 10 times in a row and 16 most popular driver awards in total. In a show of the class that has been Elliot's style throughout his career, he removed himself from the balloting after his 16th win
