This blog has gone through some changes over the years, but since I have taken it over I have tried to keep you informed in the subjects that interest me and you both. Now that I have completed a final edit on MADDIE & MOOK AND THE MESSAGE IN THE BOTTLE, I invite you on the journey to the finale which will hopefully be a book contract and a published childrens book. I welcome any and all constructive comments, and look forward to taking you on this journey with me.

How To KILL A Writer!

What can take a writer out of the picture? Short of writers block or death, we all find a way to put a pen to paper or hack away at a keyboard to generate the tales that make us feel something. I've read the articles that say you're not a true writer unless you write something everyday. That's not how I roll. I am not going to write crap just to say I wrote something.

I am not saying everything I write is gold, but I am saying everything I write has some kind of potential. So what can actually take a writer from writing...short of death

You've Written A Book And Nobody Knows...What Now?

When you're a writer, it seems that the only important thing is to write. While that may be true, just writing is not going to get you a publishing deal. After your write your "epic" or your books of poems, or the next great travel book and then start sending out your query letters....wasn't that a fun little addition....you may decide that you need a website so people (agents, publishers) can find you.

There are couple of ways to go on a website. You can pay for one. I pay about $90 a year for www.rcshivers.com, through Ipower. They are a great hosting site that offers me a lot of flexibility. If I decide to self publish, I can even initiate Paypal to sell my books. There are plenty of hosting services that are reasonably priced and also offer website templates and design software as part of the package

Writer's Websites And Ways To Market Your Book

So lets talk about how to get your writing out there. There are a ton of writing websites, contests, blogs etc. My wife is always finding new ways to market my books and stories. Recently...and somewhat late we found the website Authonomy.com.

Authonomy is a social website directed at building a community of writers and fans of books. It's is the brainchild of HarperCollins UK

Hardcore, KICK You In The Tale Books!

So I was trying to think of what would bring readers to my blog. I write articles and stories and books, but when I read, I want that read to kick my ass and make me feel something. I want to laugh hard or feel like I have been punched in the chest when I am done. So read on and check out my short story, THE TWIN BED. It was inspired by the song Whisky Lullaby, but then it evolved. You will either love it or hate, there is no in between, but even the people who hate admit that they love it......
