This blog has gone through some changes over the years, but since I have taken it over I have tried to keep you informed in the subjects that interest me and you both. Now that I have completed a final edit on MADDIE & MOOK AND THE MESSAGE IN THE BOTTLE, I invite you on the journey to the finale which will hopefully be a book contract and a published childrens book. I welcome any and all constructive comments, and look forward to taking you on this journey with me.

The Top 100 Books To Read

I came across a list of Top 100 books to read that was being sent around Facebook and through email. The Top 100 books and most people would probably only have read six. That's not saying a whole lot for the general reading public.

I went through the list with my wife and we both did pretty good, but there seemed to be a bunch of great reads missing. No Stephen King, NO Mary Shelley. No William Faulkner. I would bet there was a bunch of your favorites missing

A baby Is Ripped From Her Forever Adoptive Family With No Explanation

My wife and I have been jumping through the hoops of SC DSS in the hope we can adopt a child. We are looking for any gender, any race, from the ages of birth through nine. We have been presented with only one opportunity which was stolen from us. The excuse I was given was poor at best.

Then I heard the story of Gail Nix. She had her baby from the day little Maddi was 8 days old. After 18 months and an approved adoption, the baby was taken from her before a court date was set. No explanation

Hilton Head Island competes for Google Fiber

Its funny where I come across news and stories for my columns. I meet great musicians everywhere I go, so that takes care of the country music column on examiner. When I travel, I am not necessarily looking for stories. They just seem to find me.

Case and Point: while traveling to Hilton Head Island recently, I got all over facebook and found that Google is pushing a new high speed internet service. The trial run will pick several cities from around the country. They must have between 50,000 and 500,000 residents

Columbus Ships Sail Again

I was traveling the South Carolina Lowcountry with my wife for a much needed vacation recently. On our first day out we went on an excursion to Beaufort. Beaufort is a sleepy little town that lies half way between Charleston and Hilton Head. The land is flat and the huge Live Oak trees that line the streets tower high, but their huge limbs weigh heavily to the ground.

We traveled down to the marina and parked the car. The weatherman had brought us a great day for walking the quaint little street that paralelled the waterfront, and my wife was in need of a pair of flip flops. Not any pair, but a leather soled pair with the state Palm Tree and Moon logo
